A new world record was achieved in Illinois! Mark Miller, the Chicago Slice, and 444 kids teamed up to set the record for the world’s largest pickleball lesson.

Sweeps in Chicago, Surprises in Cincinnati

At the PPA Cincinnati Slam, Christian Alshon shined in men’s singles, claiming the gold medal, while Anna Leigh Waters added another women’s singles title to her résumé. Waters paired with Ben Johns to dominate mixed doubles, giving both players double golds on the weekend. Johns also teamed up with Gabe Tardio for the men’s doubles crown. The women’s doubles bracket delivered the biggest surprise, as Jade and Jackie Kawamoto went on a breakthrough run, defeating Waters and Anna Bright as well as Jorja Johnson and Hurricane Tyra Black to secure their first pro gold.

The APP Chicago Open featured several milestones and shining moments. Ammar Wazir captured the men’s singles title, while top-ranked Sofia Sewing outlasted Katerina Stewart in the women’s singles final. Sewing went on to claim a double gold, winning women’s doubles with Shelby Bates. Jack Munro also took home two golds, earning the mixed doubles title with Megan Fudge and men’s doubles with Will Howells. Champions Pro Lee Whitwell capped the weekend with a standout showing, securing the rare triple crown.
