Pickleball Improves LPGA Golfer’s Mental Game – What Is Your Pickleball Side Effect?

News Stacie Townsend 08-26-2020

One of the 3.3 million pickleball players in the United States includes professional golfer, Amy Olson, who is currently ranked #56 on the Rolex Rankings for Women’s Professional Golf. Amy, like the rest of the pickleball population, has a blast on the pickleball courts. However, what Amy does that the rest of us may or may not do is take learnings from the sport of pickleball into her career as a professional golfer.

Amy recognizes that one of her weaknesses on the golf course is playing too conservatively. She strives to play more aggressive golf, which is something that Amy draws parallels to in her pickleball game. Amy strives to take her aggressiveness shown on the pickleball court into her golf game. This interesting takeaway from the sport of pickleball – a mental approach and confidence taken from the sport of pickleball and applied to a career setting – is a positive side effect of the sport of pickleball.

The sport of pickleball has a slew of potential positive side effects, which include, among other things, exercise, better health, social benefits (e.g. new friends), competitive outlet, and lots of laughter. These positive side effects improve the quality of life of all those that play the game.
