According to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) 2019 Pickleball Participant Report, there are four regions in the United States that are popular for the most passionate pickleball players (also known as core pickleball players, which are defined as pickleball players that play pickleball 8 or more times per year). These four regions, which account for almost 75% of all core pickleball players in the United States, are:
- South Atlantic (FL, GA, SC, NC, VA, WV, DC) = 276,000 core pickleball players
- East North Central (WI, MI, IL, OH, IN) = 268,000 core pickleball players
- Pacific (CA, OR, WA) = 260,000 core pickleball players
- Mountain (AZ, NV, NM, UT, CO, ID, WY, MT) = 164,000 core pickleball players
