Focus on the Player Journey

Quick Tips Pickle4 Team 10-08-2026

It’s easy to think about your programming one event at a time: How do we fill this league? How many people signed up for open play? How did the tournament go?

But don’t miss the opportunity to take a step back and think about what happens for players after those events. What does a new player do after their first clinic? Where can a recreational player go when they’re ready for more competition? What happens when a league ends? Is there an easy next step for someone who wants to try a tournament?

Take time to map out a typical player’s path through your club or program. Look for places where players might lose interest or where the next step isn’t obvious. You may find an opportunity to improve a communication, add a program, or simply make players more aware of what’s already available.

When planning your next event or fine-tuning your programming, think where does it take the player next?
